Family Forum
Greater Easterhouse Family Forum (GEFF) is a training and development project based in Easterhouse. The project has been working with families in the area since 1992 when it was set up by a group of lone parents living locally.
Our main aim has never changed and that is to support families and help them explore their community and the opportunities for training that are available in the area. We ensure childcare is arranged to support our courses as this can often be the biggest barrier for parents who want to attend any activity.
More recently we have been focussing our attention on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle with exercise, healthy cookery classes and therapies. We also offer starter and taster courses on a wide variety of subjects and are supported in this by John Wheatley College through their Widening Access Programme.
The project offers family support, a range of fun courses both educational and recreational and the opportunity to get involved in what is happening in your community. We take pride in the individual attention and support offered on a wide range of issues and concerns. We can offer a local contact point for families with support and guidance if required.
These are the classes we are running at present in venues throughout Easterhouse…
- Healthy Cooking
- Belly dancing
- I. T.
- Tai Chi
- Beauty Therapies
- Yoga
- Sewing
And we are always looking for new ideas for courses so if you have an interest or hobby you think might be popular with others in the area give us a ring and let us know. If we can get a group interested then we will do our best to find a venue and a tutor or coach.
We would love to hear from you so give us a call. Anne Louise, Karen and Kirsty - G E Family Forum 0141 781 4172.
